Senate Candidate for SA

I was born in 1957 in Melbourne, Victoria. After moving around Australia (SA and WA), I ended up settling back in SA with my family in the 80's.

Starting out in various laboratories in Perth and Adelaide, I have worked in the fields of; mineral assay, hospital biochemistry and agriculture/soil analysis. I have been employed as a Laboratory Technician at a Senior High School for the last 30 years.

I have been a member of the Australian Democrats since 2000. My experience has been wide and varied covering everything from the Branch level to running as a candidate in several elections.

Policy areas

Since the start of this century, Australia has seen many of our 50+ year old coal fired electricity generators reach the end of their working lives and close. The cost of installing renewables is coming down rapidly, making them the most viable alternative. However, more can be done in areas of storage and distribution.

The Australian Democrats believe that Australia must have a long-term, stable plan for energy to enable businesses and consumers to have confidence once again. For the last ten years, Australia has not had an energy policy and this is something I will work hard on for the Australian public.
