Victorian State Election
Nominations and Expressions of Interest are sought for being a Candidate to represent the party at the
Victorian State election, to be held on Saturday 24 November 2018. The electorates of the Parliament are
structured as follows:
Legislative Council – Regions: a team of candidates per Region (proportional voting method)
Legislative Assembly – Districts: a single candidate per District (preferential voting method)
The Victorian Executive has recommended the party nominate candidates in the following Regions;
The Victorian Campaign Team will be interested in discussing any seat with a potential candidate.
Potential candidates and those interested will be invited to a meeting to introduce themselves, meet the new
Campaign Team and discuss and receive some information and encouragement. The Victorian Division will
provide support, in terms of platform and research material, and speaking opportunities.
Potential candidates are invited to write a short statement supporting their candidacy of up to 500 words.
Candidates need not be financial members at the time of nomination, but are expected to become members
prior to their endorsement.
The personal suitability for endorsement of potential candidates, is examined in a confidential interview with
the Victorian Division’s Candidate Assessment Committee (CAC), a group of experienced party members.
